Apple’s fall event is typically held in September each year and the theme for this year’s event is ‘Wanderlust’, which means – ‘a strong desire to travel’. This year, the company is expected to announce the launch of a new line of iPhones, including the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro, as well as an updated version of its Watch Series 9 and the second generation of the Apple Watch Ultra, among other products. While it is possible that additional new products will be announced at the event, there are a number of devices that we anticipate and do not anticipate to be made available this month. NEW APPLE WATCH BANDS & IPHONE CASES
It is expected that Apple will announce new cases and bands for its AirPods Pro models at its September event, likely to be released in a range of new colors. These new cases and bands may be available to purchase from Apple’s online store shortly after the event has concluded. Apple is expected to launch a USB-C Charging Case for the AirPods Pro at the same time as the iPhone 15 launch, according to a report from Bloomberg and an Apple analyst.
APPLE WATCH SERIES 9 & IPHONE 15 PRO THUNDERBOLT ACCESSORY CABLE
It is anticipated that Apple will launch the iPhone Watch Series 9 later this year, which is expected to be an incremental update to the Series 8. This update is expected to involve the update of the S-series chips within the device, which should result in a significant improvement in performance, but the device’s overall design is likely to remain largely unchanged from the Series 8. Additionally, rumors suggest that Apple will offer a Thunderbolt cable accessory for the iPhone 15 Pro model, which is believed to be a braided Thunderbolt-to-USB-C cable that can be used for Thunderbolt data transfer or USB4 data transfer, and is said to have a length of 1.8 meters. This cable is expected to be sold separately. Additionally, it is rumored that the iPhone 15 models will come with a braided Thunderbolt-cable in the box, which will match the color of the model’s shade.
APPLE WATCH ULTRA 2
Apple’s latest flagship watch, the Apple Watch Ultra, is available for $800 and is the largest Apple Watch available at 49mm. It is designed to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts who require increased durability and a broader selection of niche features.
APPLE PRODUCTS NOVEL SOFTWARE
The launch of new software updates for Apple products is expected to take place in September, with the release of iOS 17 on the iPhone, the iPadOS 17 on the iPad, and watchOS 10 on the Apple Watch. Additionally, Apple is expected to announce the launch of tvOS 17 on the Apple TV, which has been in beta testing for several months. It is likely that Apple will announce the release dates of these updates in the days leading up to the event.
However, some other products may not surface at the wanderlust event and they include:
LATEST IPADS
It is anticipated that Apple will launch new models of the iPad Pro, powered by the M3 processor, with an OLED display and a revised Magic Keyboard accessory. However, these models are expected to be released in the Spring or Early Summer of 2024. On the other hand, the iPad mini has not been updated since its last update in September 2021. According to an Apple analyst, Kuo, in January of this year, the next model is expected to enter mass production during the first three months of 2024. He further stated that there may not be any new iPads released in the next nine to twelve months. Additionally, Gurman has reported that Apple is in the process of developing a new version of the iPad Air with enhanced specifications, however, he has not provided a timeline for its release.
POWERED-M3 MACS
Apple is reportedly working on a new generation of Macs that will be powered by its M3 chip. This chip is based on the 3nm process and is designed to be more powerful and efficient than the M2 chip that is based on the 5nm process. It is expected that the first Mac powered by the M3 chip will be released later in the year, with an October event likely to follow the announcement of the iPhone 15 series in September. The current product lineup of Apple indicates that the focus will be on the new Macs with the M3 chip. Additionally, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that the company is planning to launch new M3 Pro models in early 2024, as well as the M3 Max chips for the Mac mini.
THE VISION PRO HEADSET & IPHONE SE 4
Apple has announced the Vision Pro Headset, which marks the company’s return to a new product category after the 2015 Apple Watch. The device was unveiled at the company’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC 2023) in June, and Apple has stated that the Vision Pro will be available in early 2024, with an estimated launch date of January to late April and an additional possibility of May.
Apple’s plans for the fourth generation of the iPhone SE have been met with mixed reviews, with speculation as to when and indeed if a fourth-generation model will be released. It is not expected that a new iPhone SE will be released this year or even the following year, and it is anticipated that the device will be launched in 2025. It is possible that the iPhone SE 4 will be one of the very first devices to feature a modem chip designed by Apple.
